Police Step Up Patrols With Halloween Approaching

Halloween is today and this year police in Dewitt, New York are preparing for partying and drinking to be done in excess.  They rank Halloween night on the same level as New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day in regards to drinking and driving.
In Dewitt, thanks to extra funding from the Stop DWI program, they are planning to send out extra patrols on the side streets and small neighborhoods on top of the normal patrols on the main roads. They say the biggest indicators of an intoxicated driver are swerving in your lane and taking unnecessarily wide turns. These are clear indicators of drunk driving and are impossible to prevent when a person is intoxicated enough.
