The 13-year-old Designated Driver

Responsibilities of an average 13 year old include: washing dishes, mowing the lawn, cleaning their room, and maybe doing the laundry. Unfortunately for 13-year-old son of Heather Choulos, his responsibility included lugging two intoxicated adults to safety. Heather Choulos, Donald Hughes and child stopped at a local pizzeria when the two adults chugged a bottle of wine. They then assigned the poor 13 year old to Designated driver duties.
The young boy was frightened and frustrated when he realized that he was driving in the wrong direction. He later became fed up and pumped the breaks in the middle Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Marin County, where the police rescued him.
Although the couple had great intentions to avoid drunk driving, assigning a 13 year old with no knowledge of driving or direction doesn’t count.  Thankfully everyone was safe.
