Rockland Puts On Mock Car Crash To Raise Awareness

No one thinks it's going to happen to them.  Yet sadly, we hear about it all the time: young adults, teenagers even, getting behind the wheel after too many drinks and losing their lives too soon.  Recently, the Rockland community in Maine assembled a mock car crash in hopes of highlighting the dangers of drinking and driving.
A drunk driving accident which left two Rockland students dead was the catalyst behind this mock car crash that took place early Wednesday morning.  This event served as part of the Every 15 Minutes
Program, organized by Rockland students, which aims to bring awareness to the tragic effects of drinking and driving.  Every 15 Minute's title comes from the statistic that there is an average of four alcohol-related crashes in the United States every hour.  Every 15 Minute's program includes a mock head-on car collision in the school parking lot, as well as a mock funeral and a faux trial at the Knox County Superior Courthouse.
