What will it take to stop a Drunk Driver?

Why does a drunk driver repeat his/her actions? When a drunk driver gets caught, why wouldn’t he/she swear off of ever driving drunk again? Some people like Robert Zimmerman repeat their actions as if they don’t understand the consequences involved in drunk driving.

At 49-years old and 2 drunk driving charges from 1992 and 1993 under his belt, Robert Zimmerman was charged yet again for drunk driving and now faces his 3rd charge after being arrested on May 20, 2013.  Zimmerman was reportedly towing a tractor and slipped across the centerline in the road.  He “figured [he] was alright,” a misconception many drunk drivers have.  If you have a drink it is safer to stay off the road.  Hopefully the 3rd time is the charm and Zimmerman will finally learn from his mistakes now that he is at risk of facing up to $5,000 in fines and a revoked license.
