Drunk Driving Can Be Murder -Repeat DWI Offenders Face Harsher Charge

In October 2010 Frances Rosalez Ford was driving on U.S. 281 with a blood alcohol level of .19. In the wrong direction, killing 38 year old Lawrence Belcher. This was not the first time Ford had been arrested for a DWI, she had been convicted two times before.
Prosecutors in the San Antonio area believe because of this it was not just intoxication manslaughter but murder. Ford's case will be the first of seven San Antonia area intoxication manslaughter charges that have been brought up to murder. It is part of a statewide initiative to get habitual DWI offender off the streets and keep them off.
