Up until 2011, drunk driving in China was completely
decriminalized, unless you hit something while driving intoxicated. Due to a
recent spike in drunk driving cases, Chinese government is ready to take action
against this issue.
During this year’s Spring Festival celebrations there
nearly 800 cases involving impaired driving, including multiple injuries and
deaths as the result of accidents. The nation is now in the process of
addressing their lax drunk driving laws, which includes training traffic police
to detect intoxicated drivers.
