A nightclub
in Singapore has outfitted their men’s urinals with detectors that test the
blood-alcohol level in the patron’s urine. When club-goers enter the club they
hand over the keys and are given computerized RFID cards.
When a patron’s urine
tests above a certain alcohol level, the cards are tagged and a warning is
displayed above the urinal. At the end of the night, when patron’s come to
retrieve their keys, nightclub staff scans the card and if they have had too
much, are recommended a taxi service. Out of the 573 drivers the analyzer had
tested over two weeks, 342 of them opted to call a cab.
