following arraignment for charges of “motor vehicle homicide while under the

Popular Texas Blogger Killed in Drunk Driving Accident
A popular blogger out of Austin is being mourned by his
online community after he was hit and killed by a drunk driver over the
weekend. Kelly Wayne Noel, 32, ran the blog ATX Hipsters, which discussed
different areas of interest such as food, entertainment, and culture in Austin.

Santa Ana driver arrested for DUI after hitting child
Suray Leon, 33-year-old of Santa Ana was arrested after she hit a boy
with her car, driving under the influence on Sunday evening. According to
police, the boy was crossing the street with his brother when he was struck by
Leon’s vehicle, a 2008 Ford F-150 and thrown 40 feet.

Palmdale girl killed after suspected DUI driver slams into apartment
Giselle Mendoza, 16-year-old, asleep in her bedroom was killed when a
drunk driver slammed his vehicle into her apartment complex early on Sunday. The driver has been identified as 20-year-old
Roberto Rodriguez, who lost control when he made a turn around 3:50 a.m. It is
reported that Mendoza was killed on impact.

Pedestrian in Serious Condition after Being Struck by Drunk Driver
A Cleveland man has been charged with drunk driving and
leaving the scene of the accident after hitting a pedestrian crossing the
street. Travis Clay, 49, was arrested at around 5pm after hitting a 54-year-old
woman just before noon the same day.

A 23-year-old woman was killed when the broken down car
she was sitting in was struck by a drunk driver. The driver, 19-year-old Sergio
Sanchez Jr. slammed into the Lexus sedan with Jacqueline Rocha in the backseat

23-year-old Jacqueline Rocha died on the spot after being hit by
19-year-old Serigo Sanchez Jr., who was driving under the influence. According
to sources, Rocha was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and died at the

Los Angeles Police Officer Killed on Duty by Intoxicated Driver
A veteran motorcycle officer of the LAPD was killed in an
accident while on duty. The other drive in the accident is suspected of driving
under the influence of cocaine at the time of the crash. Chris Cortijo had been
with the department for 27 years and had made more than 3,000 arrests for DUIs
over the course of his career.

‘Star Trek’ actor Chris Pine pleads guilty to DUI
Chris Pine, known for playing Captain Kirk in the
“Star Trek” movies, pleaded guilty in a New Zealand court to a charge of drunk
driving. Pine was fined $93 New Zealand dollars ($79 USD) and his New Zealand
driver’s license has been suspended for six months during the court hearing.

Smartphone App Created to Help Potential Intoxicated Drivers
When someone is suspected of drunk driving, they can now
simply pull up an app on their smartphone to find resources telling them their rights
if they are being pulled over. The app, called “Oh Crap” was designed to be a
tool to educated people on what police officers can and cannot do when pulling
someone over suspecting drunk driving.
