Media County, of Ohio, has seen a decrease in deaths caused by drunken driving in the past year. The community has increased efforts to prevent drunken driving by adding sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols. These efforts have raised awareness around the community about the dangers of drunken driving.
Police officials have also been handing out pamphlets at various events containing information regarding the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving. Police departments in the county have applied and received funding to conduct checkpoints throughout the upcoming year in efforts to keep the fatality number low.
