According to the CDC, four million Americans admit driving
when they’ve had too much to drink. If we just count those that admit to
driving drunk, then that means that alcohol-impaired drivers were on the road
an estimated 112 million times last year.
Though it's down 30 percent from 2006,
it’s still a dangerously high number and the CDC urges states to add more
sobriety checkpoints and to pass laws that require anyone convicted of drunk
driving to install interlock programs that require a breath test to start the
car.
