Even though alcohol-related car accidents and deaths have
fallen in Missouri and across the nation, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are
still considered one of the most dangerous times to be on the road. There’s
been a lot of added publicity surrounding drunk driving accidents, DWI checkpoints
and a noticeable increase in police presences for the holidays.
The 12-hour time span from 6pm on December 31st
to 6am on January 1st tends to have close to 71% more alcohol or
drug related crashes compared to an average weekend night.
