According to two recent studies by the Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk driving has decreased, but driving while on prescription drugs or marijuana has increased. Drunk driving has decreased by nearly one-third since 2007 and more than three-quarter since 1973.
A survey in 2014 found that almost one in four drivers tested positive for at least one drug. A startling study shows that the percentage of do drivers with three or more drugs in their system nearly doubled from 1993 to 2010.
