States that perform random traffic stops and make DUI arrest
are found to have less drunk drivers on the road based off a new study.
James Fell, senior research scientist at Pacific Institute
fro Research and Evaluation had this to say, “Hardly any new laws are being
passed regarding drinking and driving. So we think the best strategy for making
progress on reducing impaired driving could be better enforcement of the laws
we already have.”
The study found the two major measures that prevent drunk
drivers are the number of random traffic stops per state residents and the
number of DUI arrest per state residents.
