In Virginia, a Nissan Sentra drove through a red light
striking a Ford Explorer traveling with four people inside. Two of the
passengers, a 13-year-old boy and girl, were thrown from the car upon impact
because they were not wearing seatbelts.
The 13-year-old girl, Antoinette
Peters, was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries the next
day. The driver of the Sentra, Duane Brown, 32, fled the scene on foot but was
apprehended a short distance away. Brown’s blood alcohol level was two times the
legal limit and is now facing five criminal charges including manslaughter,
felony hit and run and driving under the influence.
